K: Recap about alliterations and kennings. U: Solve the meaning of kenning riddles. D: Write a kenning riddle about an animal.   Words of the Day 1. Iceberg 2. Sparkling   Let's Begin! On page 77, write the day and date as well as the words of the day.   What is a kenning poem?   Task 1 On page 77, identify the kenning riddles and answer 2a to 2d. Write your notes in your learner's book. You have 10 minutes for this task.  Task 2 On pages 77 and 78, let's make a kenning poem about an animal of your choice! This will be in your assigned group of 4. Refer to 3a and 3b for the instructions. Make a creative, colourful kenning poem poster! You have 20 minutes for this task. Here is an example: Curious creature. Furry friend. A dazzling delight to have until the very end.   What animal is Ms Farah talking about? Is there a rhyme? Are there alliterations and is there a kenning?  Here's another example!

Go to page 75 in your learner's book. Write the day and date at the top of the page. Let's look at the 'Getting Started' and discuss the 3 questions. Please write the words of the day and their meanings in your book. For question 2, you can discuss with your seating partner. Task 1 On page 76, work together with your seating partner to find out the meaning of each kenning in question 1. Don't forget to write the answers in your learner's book. You have 10 minutes for this task.  

Composition - Writing a Conclusion (Thursday; 27/2)

K: Know the summary of our informative essay. U: Understand how to conclude our essay. D: Write the conclusion of our essay.   Words of the Day 1. Conclude 2. Summary   Let's Begin! Congratulations! You're almost done with your informative essay! Time to write the conclusion.   Conclusion/Closing - The ending of an essay.    Conclusion is usually 2-3 sentences long.   2 Ways of Writing a Conclusion 1. Summarize - In conclusion, Fennec foxes a small, fluffy creatures. 2. Recommend - To learn more about Fennec foxes, you may go to IOI City Farm. / If you want to know more about Fennec foxes, go to websites such as nationalzoo.si.edu! It's best to summarize and also recommend!   Task 1 Finish off your essay with a conclusion! Once done, count your words and write the word count at the bottom of the essay. You have 15 minutes for this task.

K: Know how to elaborate the topic. U: Understand the amount of sentences needed per paragraph. D: Write 3 topic sentences.   Words of the Day 1. Elaborate 2. Fact   Let's Begin! How was your introduction? Did you introduce your topic? Today, we are going to write topic sentences!   A topic sentence is a sentence that introduces a paragraph by presenting the one topic that will be the focus of that paragraph.   Remember, 1 different topic sentence equals 1 new paragraph.   Now, let's look at the structure: Sentence 1 - Topic sentence Example: Fennec foxes have a very fluffy look.   Sentence 2 - Explain your topic sentence. Example: They have long, soft, and thick coats.   Sentence 3 - Explain your topic sentence. Example: Their tails are very bushy.   Sentence 4 - Give an example. Write a question: Did you know that a Fennec fox is the world's smallest fox?  2. Write another hook: Fennec foxes also have extra fur on its feet! 3. Write what you're talking about: This essay will talk about Fennec foxes. / In this essay, we will talk about Fennec foxes.   Remember! 1. Have 1 or 2 finger spacing before the start of each paragraph. 2. Each paragraph is around 3-7 sentences long.  3. Ensure your writing is neat and tidy!   Task 1 In an A4 paper, write an introduction about animal informative essay. Remember the writing rules and features. You have 15 minutes for this task.
