Comprehension - Bilbo the Hobbit Meets Smaug (Tuesday; 30/9)

K: Envision the setting through texts. U: Differentiate the setting in text and video. D: Answer questions based on the classic fiction.   Words of the Day 1. Wisp 2. Tremendous   Let's Begin! Prepare your Comprehension Schofield book. Go to page 26 and write the day and date on top of the page. Write the words of the day along with the definition at the bottom of the page. Let's read together! Underline/Highlight any word you find confusing or difficult. Are you able to envision the setting written by the author? Here's a video version of the setting!   Task 1 Go to page 27 and answer the questions. Remember to read the questions carefully. Check your spelling and grammar in your answers. Spelling - Set 2 Levels of Certainty & Adverbs (Thursday; 2/10)

K: Know how to spell Set 2 words. U: Find the definition of Set 2 words. D: Create a sentence for Set 2 words.   Let's Begin! Prepare your English notebook. Write the day and date along with the list of 15 numbers.    Task 1 Listen to Ms Farah saying the word and then write it down. Once done, show your thumbs-up for 3 seconds and patiently wait for the next one. Task 2 Using a physical/digital dictionary, write the definition of the word. For digital versions, you can use ones such as Merriam-Webster or Cambridge . Make sure you read the meaning correctly and write it down.      Task 3 Create a sentence by using each word. Your sentence must be at least 5 words long. Check your spelling and grammar. Be creative with your sentences!   

Composition - Plan Out and Write an Introduction (Monday; 29/9)

Take our your 'The Cat & The Fox' fable. Once your have a lined paper, write your name, the day, and date at the top. Do you remember your first task last week?     Ensure that you have notes on what you wish to change in the story: Different characters? Different moral value? Different ending?   Task 1 In your lined paper, use a planning diagram to make notes: Remember: Your notes should be short, simple, and straight-forward. Write the title 'Set 1: Fable' on the first line and in the center. Don't forget to label 15 numbers!     Task 1 Listen to each word spoken by Ms Farah. Once the word is written, show a thumbs-up for 3 seconds and patiently wait for the next word.   Task 2 Using a physical or digital dictionary, find the meaning of each word. Ensure that the spelling is correct and using Standard English.   Task 3 Create a sentence by using each word. Make sure your sentence is at least 5 words long. 

Reading - Oliver Twist Chapter 2 (Friday; 26/9)

K: Know the context of Chapter 2. U: Understand the word of that definition. D: Find and write the definitions based on Chapter 2.   Words of the Day 1. Undertaker 2. Impatiently   Let's Begin! Prepare your Oliver Twist book and English notebook. Write the day and date (along with the words of the day) in your notebook. What do you understand   in Chapter 2? Tas k 1   In the class, there are 25 definitions. Each definition defines the word in Chapter 2.  Individually, find a definition. Once found, find the word from your Oliver Twist book; underline/highlight the word. Then, place the definition back to where you found it and continue to find another. You have 30 minutes for this task.    Task 2 Choose 5 words you find interesting or hard from Task 1 and write the meaning in your English notebook. You have 15 minutes for this task. 

Composition - Retell a Fable (Monday; 22/9)

K: Know the context of the fable. U: Plan a story retelling. D: Edit and improve my story.   Words of the Day 1. Exclaimed 2. Trick   Let's Begin! Do you remember the plot sequence?   Task 1 Let's read this lovely fable! Underline/Highlight any interesting or hard words.  Retelling a familiar story is fun! You don't have to think too hard about the plot because you already know it.   Task 2 Plan a retelling a The Cat & The Fox. Keep the features of a fable, but change something such as: - choose different characters, names or setting; - write a different ending; - use the same characters but teach a different lesson.  Write your notes on the worksheet Ms Farah has given you.
