Composition - Writing a Proper Introduction (Thursday; 5/2)

K: Know the main idea of our topic. U: Understand the use of simple sentences in an essay. D: Write a proper introduction.   Words of the Day 1. Counter 2. Valid   Let's Begin! Do you remember your mind map? Have you written your draft from last week? With your draft, do you have enough valid reasons?  Every reason needs: 1. A counter-argument - Have a 'debate' that goes against the reason. 2. Facts - Reason will be better, stronger, and more valid with actual resource.    Task 1 Once you have your draft ready, let's write an introduction!  What does the introduction have? 1. Indent - finger-spacing 2. A rhetorical question 3. Meaning of main idea 4. Your opinion (without using 1st POV)

Do you remember what a persuasive writing is? How about the features of a persuasive text? Today, you're going to plan your topic.   Task 1 In seated pairs, brainstorm and plan ideas for today's topic, 'Should There Be School Homework?' While you discuss, check: 1) Do you and your partner have the same/different ideas? 2) Is your sentence short and simple? 3) What are your reasons for each main idea? Are they valid reasons?  You have 20 minutes for this task.

Do you remember what a persuasive text is? Task 1 In a test pad, write a persuasive essay about any of the three topics below: 1.  All classrooms should have a class pet. 2. All students should learn how to cook. 3. Students should have 3-day weekends. Remember to use the structure paper that Ms Farah gave. You can ask your teachers about any word your don't know. You have 30 minutes for this task. 

Comprehension - My Cempaka School (Thursday; 15/1)

K: Know what the questions are asking. U: Understand how to get proper information through the internet. D: Create a book poster about 'My Cempaka School'.   Words of the Day 1. Established 2. Expedition   Let's Begin! How well do you know Cempaka?  Task 1 With a partner, use an I-Pad to find information based on the questions given. Just write your answers on an A3 paper by using any writing materials such as coloured pencils, pencils, or even markers.  Remember to write your answers as simple but understandable notes.    Task 2 While you conduct research and finding answers, time to decorate your poster! You may use coloured pencils, pencils, and oil pastels to decorate your work. You may also use coloured and recycled papers to add some 'pizzazz' .     You have 30 minutes for this task.

You will receive a nice worksheet from Ms Farah. Write your name, the day and date at the top of the sheet. The rule of a simple sentence is subject + verb + object aka SVO . Example:  1. Do you know what all these medias have in common? These are all persuasive writing. Persuasive Writing - Writer tries to convince or persuade the reader to have a particular point of view or take a specific action through logical arguments and a cohesive summary. Write down the tips above in your test pad. Remember to make your notes legible, neat, and decorative. Task 1 In your test pad, choose one of the three topics below and write a short persuasive essay. Library - Let's Have a Library Record! (Monday; 12/1)

K: Know how to keep track of the books we read. U: Understand how long it takes for us to finish a book. D: Record the books we read.   Words of the Day 1. Record 2. Comment     Let 's Begin! Great news, kids! You can now borrow books from the library! Task 1 Starting today, you need to borrow a book from the library and record down the book's information.   Write your name at the top of the Library Record. Use that sheet to record the books you have borrowed from the library. For the 'comment' section, you can write a short opinion about the book such as 'It's a funny book!' or 'Wish the author didn't kill the villain.' Usually, the timeline for a borrowed book is 1 week . If you finish it earlier, you can return the book to Mr Emmanuel and borrow a new one!
