Composition - Finishing our Fable (Thursday; 30/10)

K : Remember the context of a fable. U: Understand the features of a fable. D: Finish our fable writing.   Words of the Day 1. Doubt 2. Vain      Let's Begin! It's been awhile, but do you remember your fable essay?       Task 1  Now that you have at least your draft and introduction, let's finish the fable! 1. You can copy parts of the original fable but edit out minor parts like the characters. 2. You can rewrite the entire setting and story in your own version.   - Don't forget to have indents (two-finger spacing) before each new paragraph. - Don't forget to skip one like for each new paragraph. - Don't forget that different character = different paragraph.   Extra Task Once done and marked by Ms Farah, finish your 'Carnivorous Plant' work or the speeches worksheet.

Grammar - Direct and Reported Speeches (Monday; 27/10)

K: Know the difference between direct and reported speeches. U: Understand the features of two speeches. D: Write examples of direct and reported speeches.   Words of the Day 1. Direct 2. Reported   Let's Begin! Have your English notebook ready. Don't forget to write the day and date, and the words of the day! :) Now, who wants to watch a video?   Can you tell the difference between direct speech and indirect speech?    Direct speech - The exact words spoken by someone. Example: "My cat is so cute!" exclaimed Ms Farah. Features: 1. It has speech marks ("..."). 2. The dialogue can be past/present/future tense. 3. The narrative can be past/present tense.   Indirect/Reported speech - Reports what a person said. Example: Ms Farah exclaimed that her cat was so cute. Features: 1. No speech marks ("..."). 2. Change pronouns (From 'my' to 'her'). 3. Sentence is always in past tense ('cat is cute' becomes 'cat was cute')....

Prepare your Comprehension Schofield book. Go to page 26 and write the day and date on top of the page. Write the words of the day along with the definition at the bottom of the page. Let's read together! Underline/Highlight any word you find confusing or difficult. Are you able to envision the setting written by the author? Here's a video version of the setting!   Task 1 Go to page 27 and answer the questions. Remember to read the questions carefully. Check your spelling and grammar in your answers. Spelling - Set 2 Levels of Certainty & Adverbs (Thursday; 2/10)

K: Know how to spell Set 2 words. U: Find the definition of Set 2 words. D: Create a sentence for Set 2 words.   Let's Begin! Prepare your English notebook. Write the day and date along with the list of 15 numbers.    Task 1 Listen to Ms Farah saying the word and then write it down. Once done, show your thumbs-up for 3 seconds and patiently wait for the next one. Task 2 Using a physical/digital dictionary, write the definition of the word. For digital versions, you can use ones such as Merriam-Webster or Cambridge . Make sure you read the meaning correctly and write it down.      Task 3 Create a sentence by using each word. Your sentence must be at least 5 words long. Check your spelling and grammar. Be creative with your sentences!
