Let's Begin!

Now, who wants to watch a video?
Can you tell the difference between direct speech and indirect speech?
Direct speech - The exact words spoken by someone.
Example: "My cat is so cute!" exclaimed Ms Farah.
Features:
1. It has speech marks ("...").
2. The dialogue can be past/present/future tense.
3. The narrative can be past/present tense.
Indirect/Reported speech - Reports what a person said.
Example: Ms Farah exclaimed that her cat was so cute.
Features:
1. No speech marks ("...").
2. Change pronouns (From 'my' to 'her').
3. Sentence is always in past tense ('cat is cute' becomes 'cat was cute').
4. Needs the word 'that' before writing what the speaker has said.
Write these two information in your notebook. You can decorate your work to make it interesting!
