Grammar - Direct and Reported Speech (Monday; 23/2)

Each of you will receive a nice worksheet. Don't forget to write your name, day, and date on it. Do you remember what direct speech and reported speech are?  Can you identify the difference between the two speeches?   Task 1 In groups of three, do Question 1b together. Read the instructions carefully. Ensure that everyone has told their part and retold the same part to another partner. You have 15 minutes for this task.   Task 2 In your English notebook, answer Question 1c to 2b. Read the instructions carefully. You do not need to write the questions; just write your answers.   You have 20 minutes for this task.  

Composition - Writing Proper Topic Sentences (Thursday; 12/2)

K: Remember the use of conjunctions. U: Understand how to create topic sentences. D: Write the topic sentences and conclusion.   Words of the Day 1. Pressure 2. Practice   Let's Begin! Take out your 'Should There Be Homework?' essay. By now, you only have at least your introduction written and marked. Now, let's watch the last video. Before we write, do you remember what conjunctions are?   Task 1 With your recent essay, continue writing it by adding at least 2 topic sentences and end it with a conclusion. For those disagreeing that there should be homework:   For those agreeing that there should be homework: For the conclusion, the tips are: 1. Start the paragraph with 'In conclusion...' and then continue by agreeing or disagreeing with the main topic. 2. Add another fact about your topic to end your essay. 3. Don't forget to write the word count at the bottom right of your essay.

Do you know what a play script is? A written version of a play or other dramatic composition . In lieu of Valentines Day,   we are doing to read a play script about Pyramus and Thisbe from A Midsummer Night's Dream.   Little details about this play: 1. Pyramus and Thisbe were childhood friends but enemy families. 2. As adults, they love each other but cannot be together. 3. They talked to each other through a cracked wall in their houses. 4. They plan to meet under the mulberry tree. 5. Thisbe fled from a lioness, leaving her cloak. 6. Pyramus saw the cloak and thought Thisbe died. 7. Pyramus committed suicide out of heartbreak. 8. Thisbe found his corpse and got sad. 9. She killed herself out of heartbreak. 10. The mulberry is now red because of their blood. Now, let's watch this short play! ...

K: Know the main idea of our topic. U: Understand the use of simple sentences in an essay. D: Write a proper introduction.   Words of the Day 1. Counter 2. Valid   Let's Begin! Do you remember your mind map? Have you written your draft from last week? With your draft, do you have enough valid reasons?  Every reason needs: 1. A counter-argument - Have a 'debate' that goes against the reason. 2. Facts - Reason will be better, stronger, and more valid with actual resource.    Task 1 Once you have your draft ready, let's write an introduction!  What does the introduction have? 1. Indent - finger-spacing 2. A rhetorical question 3. Meaning of main idea 4. Your opinion (without using 1st POV)
