Features of an Adventure Story

Homework Time

In your Composition book, create an adventure story about a boy or girl who is forced to fight an evil creature (dragon, ogre, wizard, etc.) in order to save their family or friends. Take note of what is needed in for your homework:

1. Create a draft. You can answer the questions below as these questions can be your draft to plan out your story and idea. Remember: Write these questions and answer them in your Composition book.

A) Who is the main character in my story? Do they have a name? What are the other characters in my story?

B) What is the setting of my story? Do they live in a house? Do they live in the forest? Does the story happen during the day or at night?

C) What are the problems that the characters face? 

D) What is the suspense or climax? Are the characters able to fix it?

E) Is the suspense or problem solved? What is the ending of your story? Do the characters get a good or bad ending?

F) Does my story have at least 1 simile and at least 1 metaphor? What are these similes and metaphors?


2. Now that you have your draft ready, time to make the story! Write the checklist below in your Composition book so that you can keep an eye out for your story.

A) It has proper capitalization. (   )

B) It is using correct speech marks and punctuations. (   )

C) The word count is between 200-250 words. (   )

D) It has all the features of an adventure story. (   )

E) The spelling for all of my words are correct. (   )

F) I have proofread/reread my work at least three times. (   )
