Composition: Writing Your Own Traditional Tale (Thursday; 14/1)

K: Know how to elaborate the draft of our tale.

U: Understand the checklist of a traditional tale.

D: Do our own version of the chosen traditional tale.

Words of the Day

1. Elaborate

2. Traditional Tale

Let's Recap!

Please refer to your textbook, page 75 for these questions.

Here is an example by Ms Farah:

1. The main idea of my story is 'Red Riding Hood'. But instead of making the wolf Red's enemy, he instead became her friend.
2. It takes place in a magical rainforest. The setting happens in the morning until the afternoon.
3. The main characters are Red, a talking wolf named Wolf, Red's Grandmother, and Hunter, the villain. Wolf and Red did not know each other at first, but then in the ending, they became best friends.
4. Red was on her way to her grandmother's house. Wolf was being hunted by Hunter and was found by Red who soon helped him. Hunter was a cruel man who hunts animals for sports, including Wolf.
5. The message in my traditional tale is 'Do not be cruel to animals' and 'Always lend a hand to those in need'.
6. I will use similes such as 'his fur is as black as charcoal' and metaphors such as 'her eyes popped out to see the wolf' in my tale.

Time to share! Read aloud your draft to the class! :)

Homework

Using the draft that you have made last week, it's time to make your own version of a traditional tale! Here are some important things to remember:

1. Do not forget to write the title of your tale.

2. Write it in your Composition book.

3. Write the day and date.

4. Remember the proper use of speech marks if you're using dialogues. Example: "The cat is talking to me!" screamed Lyra.

5. Due date: Monday (18/1)
