Composition: Writing about Our Past Event (Thursday; 18/2)

K: Know the features of an autobiography.

U: Understand our feelings by referring to our five senses.

D: Do a past event of our lives.

6 Features of an Autobiography

1. Written in formal language.

2. Written in the past tense and usually written in chronological order (in time order).

3. Text split up into paragraphs (usually each paragraph will detail the events of each part of author's life, for example: one paragraph to explain author's childhood, one to explain author's early adulthood).

4. Dates included so that the reader knows what happened and when.

5. Use first person point of view.

6. Talks about author and based on author's memories.


The Structure of your Writing

Please refer to textbook, page 93. Do you remember the draft you made? It's time to turn it into an essay!


Please refer to the checklist below when you're writing your essay:

A) I am using proper capitalization. (   )

B) I have used 1-finger spacing at the start of each new paragraph. (   )

C) I have skipped one line for each new paragraph. (   )

D) The word count is between 200-250 words. (   )

E) I have written the word count at the bottom of my autobiography. (   )

F) The spelling for all of my words are correct. (   )

G) I have proofread/reread my work at least three times. (   )

H) I have applied all the 6 features in my autobiography. (   )

You must write this checklist in your Composition book along with your past event essay.


Homework

1. Do not forget to write the title of your autobiography.

2. Write it in your Composition book.

3. Write the day and date.

4. Submit pictures of your work in Homeroom Course -> English Folder -> Week 23. 

5. This is due next Tuesday (23/2). Write this in your HW Journal: Past Event Autobiography. Composition. Tuesday 23/2.
