Complex Sentences

Please refer to workbook page 53. Non-defining relative clauses give us extra information about someone or something. It isn't essential for understanding who or what we are talking about.



Synonyms

Please refer to workbook pages 56 and 57. Synonyms are words which have nearly the same or identical meaning as one another.





Words Ending in -ed and -ing

Please refer to workbook page 58. Some core roots only require the addition of -ed. If there is a word 'is', 'are', 'am', 'was', or 'were' before the core word, we add -ing to the core word.



Opposites and Comparisons

Please refer to workbook pages 60 and 61. Some prefixes. when applied at the beginning of a root word, changes the root word into a negative.

Comparative: When comparing 2 things. Uses -er or 'more.

Superlative: When comparing 3 or more things. Is the highest degree. Uses -est or 'most'.
