Welcome to English Year 6! (Wednesday; 25/8)
K: Know which strand will be held on respective lessons.
U: Understand what is to be expected in Year 6.
D: Do a goal for Year 6.
Words of the Day
1. Goal
2. Expectations
First of all, let's introduce ourselves for the new students in the class! And of course, Ms Farah Farhana (or Ms Farah) would love to know about the new students too! Tell us your name, nickname, place of birth, and favourite hobby!
Please refer to the books needed for Year 6:
1. Cambridge Primary English Learner’s Book 6
2. Cambridge Primary English Workbook 6
3. King of the Cloud Forest by Michael Morpurgo
Due to the pandemic and lockdown, the books are now hard to obtain. So, as an alternative, PDF files of the first 3 chapters will be posted in Schoology. Pictures/Screenshots of the pages will be posted in Ms Farah's blog as well during any lesson.
For now, the strands will be held on these respective lessons:
Lesson 1 - Spelling/Dictation / Free choice
Lesson 2 - Grammar
Lesson 3 - Comprehension
Lesson 4 - Composition
Lesson 5 - Reading / Free choice
Keep in mind that sometimes we will have double periods on the same day, hence why the strands will be placed within periods.
Your spelling and dictation list can be found in your Homeroom course -> Cempaka@Home Term 1 -> English folder -> Spelling and Dictation list.
I will inform you a week before for any reading activities. Likewise, any assessments will be informed to you a week before. So be prepared and aware!
As this is our first English period, it is time to set our goals for Year 6. Answer these questions through typing them in the discussion room.
1. Which strand (grammar, comprehension, composition) am I most confident of? Why?
2. Which strand (grammar, comprehension, composition) am I most nervous of? Why?
3. What is my plan to strengthen my English?
While you type your answers, ensure that your capitalization, spelling, and punctuation are correct. Any errors will be replied and deleted. Please go to your discussion room below:
All the best for Year 6!
Being in year 6 is already a goal achieved.
