    1a. Dialogue - Present and past tense. Informal language. Non-standard English.
    Narrative - Past tense. Formal language. Standard English.

    1b. To show hesitance and pause.

    1c. Figurative. It means Neddy was slowly realizing the truth.

    1e Neddy - boy; worried; smart; hesitant; concerned; guilty. (Only give 6 characteristics)
    Rose - angry; girl; furious; confused; impatient; on guard. (Only give 6 characteristics)
