Composition: Term 1 Assessment 2 (Thursday; 14/10)
K: Know the instructions carefully.
U: Understand the use of 5W1H in the news article.
D: Write a news article in a specific time limit.
Before we start, cater to the rules below:
1. You must write your essay in a test pad. If there aren't any, please write in a long notebook (one that has the same length as your Science notebook). Composition book is not allowed.
2. You may use a pen or pencil to write your news article.
3. Since this is an assessment, no public questions are to be asked and answered. This includes spelling as it is part of the grade. All instructions are in the blog and PDF file. You may, however, message Ms Farah personally if there are any concerns that cannot be found in either link or blog.
4. Once 30 minutes are done, you are to stop writing. However, you are to submit your work before midnight tonight (14/10). If your submission is a day late, 1 point will be deducted. Each point will be deducted depending on the late submission days.
5. Please submit your work properly in a way that Ms Farah can read and mark your news article. Make sure to submit the news article pictures/pdf once so it can be in one list as seen in the picture below:
If news article is sent as pictures (.jpg or .png),
Please take the picture clearly and carefully so that the words can be read. Ensure the picture is horizontal and the texts are not upside-down. Here is an example:
If news article is sent as scans (.pdf),
Please ensure that the scanned work is clear and easy to read. Ensure the texts are not upside-down. Here is an example:
Assessment Question
In your test pad, write a news article about 'The Most Dangerous Animal'. It has to be one (1) real animal that is labelled as dangerous by a legitimate source. The word count is 200-300 words. Do not forget to label the word count at the end of the news article.
Use the 5W1H and take note of the questions below when you write your news article:
1. What is the dangerous animal?
2. When was this animal introduced? Where can it usually be found?
3. Why is it dangerous? Is there evidence?
4. How is it dangerous? How can it kill?
5. What is your opinion of the dangerous animal?
You can add more content and elaboration using the 5W1H and inverted pyramid.
Submission
Once done, please submit it in the Assignment section of your Schoology. The link you should click is 'Term 1 Assessment 2'.
Remember: The work has to be submitted before midnight tonight!
