Words of the Day

2. Convincing

What is an advertisement?

A notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event or publicizing a job vacancy.

An advertisement (or ad for short) use persuasive languages to convince or persuade people to buy something.

Here is a video of a student making an ad!

Task 1

Create an advertisement poster promoting something of your choice. That 'something' can be food, an item, an invention, or even something that technically doesn't exist.

Your ad can be in a form of a physical ad (A4 papers, manila cards, coloured materials, etc.) or a digital ad (Google Slides, Canva, Wordart, etc.)

Take 30 minutes to draft out your idea either in your Composition book or test pad. You may use the notes below:

1. What kind of item/food/invention should I advertise?

2. Do I want to do a physical or digital version?

3. How do I want to decorate my advertisement?

4. How will I present my advertisement?

5. What are the 3 grammar topics will I use for my ad?

Task 2

After drafting out your ideas, create your ad. You are encouraged to use your device (even if you're doing a physical version) to continue your research on creating your ad.

You have 55 minutes for this task.

Refer to the checklist below for the advertisement.

1. My advertisement is digital/physical.

2. I am promoting a food/an item/an invention.

3. I am using the 3 grammar topics that I've learned so far in my advertisement (example: Active & passive voices, Personification, and Connectives).

4. The word count for my advertisement is 200 words.

5. I have practiced promoting my advertisement with a loud, clear voice and good eye contact with a time limit of 2-4 minutes.

Task 3

Present your ad in a clear and concise voice! Your advertising presentation should be at least 2 minutes and at most 4 minutes.

To be more creative, you can bring the item you're promoting. Do not bring actual food though.

Due Date

All these tasks are due on Wednesday, 5th July 2023.

For digital, you are to submit in the assignment section. For physical, you are to submit personally to Ms Farah.

Have fun and all the best!
