Refer to page 156 in your learner's book. Write today's day and date in your LB with a black or blue pen.
Watch these videos and identify the features of a debate through their actions.
The position of speakers go as follows:
1. First proposition - Introduces the topic and gives first topic sentence.
2. First opposition - Introduces the topic and gives first topic sentence along with rebuttal of first proposition's topic sentence.
3. Second proposition - Gives second topic sentence along with rebuttal of first opposition's topic sentence.
4. Second opposition - Gives second topic sentence along with rebuttal of second proposition's topic sentence.
5. Third proposition - Gives third topic sentence along with rebuttal of second opposition's topic sentence and conclusion.
6. Third opposition - Gives third topic sentence along with rebuttal of third proposition's topic sentence and conclusion.
Each debate is allowed to ask 2 questions per panel.

Task 1
You will all be assigned in your groups of 3. Once seated, have 1 volunteer to come forward and take the randomized topic.
Once you have your topic, discuss and assign the speaker positions. The assessments will begin as follows:
1. Individual assessment - Persuasive essay. Please bring a test pad, device, and black or blue pen. This assessment will begin on the third lesson of the week.
2. Group assessment - Debate. Please prepare cue cards, pens, and device. This assessment will begin on the second lesson of next week.
