Grammar - 1.10 Practice Using Punctuation to Read for Meaning WB (Tuesday; 1/10)

K: Know the types of punctuation. U: Understand the many purposes of punctuation. D: Rewrite sentences with the correct punctuation.   Words of the Day 1. Punctuation 2. Shimmer   Let's Begin! On page 23 in your workbook, please write the day and date. Then, write the words of the day in your workbook. Do you know your punctuation?  Now, list down the punctuation in your notebook: 1. Period . = To end a sentence. 2. Comma , = Join clauses and list things. 3. Question mark ? = To ask a question. 4. Exclamation mark ! = To show excitement or anger. Remember the last secret punctuation? Can you guess what it does? 5. Semicolon ; = Join two related main clauses. Example - I'm hungry; I should eat.  Task 1 On page 23, take 5 minutes to read the sentences and verbally answer what each sentence means. Write the day and date in your English notebook. What are commas for? Please write down the purpose of commas in your notebook: 1. To create a pause. 2. To list information   Task 1 Go to page 34 in your learner's book. In your group, take 5 minutes to verbally discuss 1a together. Task 2 Let's read the text aloud! For 1b, try to figure out where you should put the commas. Next, rewrite the short paragraph nicely in your notebook and add the appropriate commas in them. You have 20 minutes for this task.

Impish Let's Begin On page 19, write the day and date in your workbook. Quietly read the story again. You have 5 minutes.   Task 1 On page 21, answer 2a until 2f. Since this is a practice assessment, answer the questions on your own. The task is 20 minutes.   Task 2/Extra Task On page 21-23, answer questions 3a to 3e. We will discuss the questions together.

Write down the day and date in your English notebook. Then, open to page 25 to unit 1.7. Do you know when we need to write paragraphs? Let's watch this simple trick. Now, when do we separate paragraphs?   Task 1 Let's read a story on pages 26 and 27 together! Task 2 On page 28, answer 2a and 2b and write your answers in your notebook. You have 20 minutes for your task. Task 3 On page 28 and 29, answer 2a to 2f. For 2d, 2e, and 2f, you may use a dictionary or the internet. Write your answers in your notebook. You have 30 minutes for this task.

K: Know the contents of a story. U: Understand the setting of a story. D: Write a beginning of a story.   Words of the Day 1. Setting 2. Characters   Let's Begin! Do you know what a setting is? Let's watch this cheerful woman explaining it! How to write a story setting? 1. Decide if you want to use first-person (I, We, Us) and third-person (He, She, Them). 2. Decide where you want to write. 3. Decide when you want to write.   Task 1 On page 14 in your workbook, write the day and date and answer question 1. You have 5 minutes for this task. Task 2 On page 15 in your workbook, answer question 2.  You have 10 minutes for this task. Task 3 Lastly, answer question 3. The words should be at most 50 words. You have 20 minutes for this task.

K: Explore the beginning of the story. U: Understand the plot sequence. D: Give opinions and views on characters.   Words of the Day 1. Plot 2. Introduction Let's Begin! Do you know what a plot sequence is? Let's watch this video!   Task 1 On page 23, answer questions 1a to 1e. Write only your answers in your English notebook. Use the same story from Unit 1.3, page 14. Remember, you need to figure out what the story is about. Not guess. You have 20 minutes for this task. Once done, show your work to your hub teacher so that we can mark.

Task 1 Do you remember what you did during the summer holiday? Write a diary essay about it!  Don't forget to use the 5W1H method:  Who did you spend your holidays with? Why was the holiday fun/boring for you? Where did you go? When did you go? What was the most interesting/fun thing that happened? How did you spend your holidays? Grammar - Time Travel with Verbs (Thursday; 12/9)

K: Know the past tense of verbs. U: Understand the rules of the game. D: Say the tenses of verbs.   Words of the Day   1. Present 2. Future   Let's Begin! In groups, let's play a time-traveling game! Task 1 Each person will roll a dice. When it arrives on a verb (that's in present tense), you must say the verb in its past tense form. If you get it right, wait on the spot until your next turn. If you get it wrong, go back one space.    Task 2 Once you finish the first round, replay the game but this time, with different rules: Once you arrive at a verb, you need to make a sentence out of it verbally. If you can make a sentence in 10 seconds, wait on the spot until your next turn. If you can't make a sentence in 10 seconds, go back one space.
