Grammar - Punctuation and Capitalization (Wednesday; 23/10)

K: Know the function of punctuation. U: Understand the placement of punctuation. D: Rewrite the sentence with the correct capitalization and punctuation.   Words of the Day 1. Capitalization 2. Punctuation Let's Begin! Do you remember your punctuation? There are also a few: Speech marks (Quotation marks) - s ignal the use of someone else's words   Example: "I can't believe he's a ghost!" Ms Farah exclaimed. "He is," responded Ms Kaisa.   Step on the speech mark placement: Step 1 - Open speech marks Step 2 - Dialogue Step 3 - Punctuation  Step 4 - Close speech marks Task 1 In groups, rewrite the sentences to their correct capitalization and punctuation. Each work sheet task 10 minutes. Once done with 1 sheet, go to Ms Farah and take another.  

Grammar - 2.6 Alphabetical Order (Tuesday; 22/10)

Refer to page 39 in your workbook and write the day and date . Try to arrange these words in alphabetical order. cats dogs bird snakes elephants camel carp cow zebra zigzagoon  Task 1 Please refer to page 40 in your workbook. You have 10 minutes for this task.   Task 2 Please refer to page 40 to 41 in your workbook. You have 5 minutes for this task. Task 3 Please refer to page 41 to 42 in your workbook. You have 15 minutes for this task.

Who's ready for a little karaoke? Task 1 In pairs, answer 1a and 1b together. Circle, highlight, or underline your answers in your learner's book. The text you're using to find the tenses are on pages 48 and 49. You have 10 minutes for this task. Task 2 In groups, answer 2a, 2b, and 2c from pages 53 to 54. Write your answers in your notebook.  You have 20 minutes for this task.   You will start in rotation: Group Past - 2a -> 2c -> 2b Group Present - 2c -> 2b -> 2a Group Future - 2b -> 2a -> 2c

Spelling - Set 1 (Friday; 11/10)

K: Know how to spell Set 1 words. U: Understand the definition of Set 1 words.  D: Write a sentence for each Set 1 word.   Let's Begin! Before we begin, write the day and date in your English notebook. Next, write the title 'Set 1' on the first line of the page. There are 15 words.   Task 1 Ms Farah will say the word twice and use the word in the sentence. When you're done writing the word in your notebook, give a thumbs-up for 3 seconds and patiently wait for the next word.   Task 2 In a group, work together to find the words in a dictionary. Write the formal meaning in your notebook.    Task 3 As a pair, create a sentence for each word. The sentence has to be at least 5 words long. Be sure to be creative!

Assessment - Write a Short Fantasy Story (Tuesday; 8/10)

K: Know the instructions carefully. U: Understand how to write a fantasy story. D: Write a fantasy story.   Words of the Day 1. Mermaid 2. Personality   Let's Begin 1. Please make sure the class is set in Exam Mode (tables are separated.) 2. You may have your stationary or pencil box on your desk. 3. Once you have your question paper, please write your name and class on the top of the first page. 4. If you ran out of space to write, raise your hand and ask for a test pad. 5. You have 30 minutes for your essay writing. 

Composition - Practice Writing a Fantasy Story (Monday; 7/10)

K: Know the features of a fictional story. U: Understand the structure of a fictional story. D: Write a proper fantasy story.   Words of the Day 1. Impressed 2. Gem   Let's Begin! Before we begin, do you remember plot mountain? Let's look at an example of a short fantasy story! What kind of features do you see in this story? 1. It has 1 or 2 finger spacing 2. It describes the characters physically. 3. It describes the setting. 4. It uses past tense. 5. It uses third person point-of-view. 6. It had introduction, climax, and ending. Let's break it down! Task 1 With your group, go around the class and all of you need to brainstorm and think of a short fantasy story based on the prompts cards that you have! Here are the roles for each group: 1 person finds 1 card. 1 person finds another card. 1 person decorates the fantasy mind map on an A4 paper. 1 person writes the fantasy essay on a test pad.  You have 20 minutes for this task.

Composition - 1.12 Write a Story Introduction (Wednesday; 2/10)

Today, on page 38, you're going to write a fantasy story! You will also get a plot mountain paper. Please write your name, day and date on the paper. Now, do you remember plot mountain?   Task 1 On page 39, prepare to use the instruction to write your fantasy story.   Using a dice, you need to write a short draft based on what you get. You have 30 minutes for this task.
