Question 1

Write about a time you learned something interesting about a different Commonwealth country from your own.

Text type - Informative text (non-fiction)

Point of view - First person (I, We, Us)

Introduction - Where was the Commonwealth country? What did you learn?

Topic sentence 1 - How did you arrive at that country? Why did you go to that country?

Topic sentence 2 - What happened that made you learn something? Was it a scary lesson? Was it an amazing lesson?

Conclusion - 'In conclusion...'; Do you hope that people will get the chance to go to the country you went? Why?

 

Question 2

Write a sea voyage from one Commonwealth country to a small island Commonwealth nation. What do you see? Who do you meet?

Text type - Story-writing (fiction)

Point of view - First person (I, We, Us)

Introduction - Where are you now? Where are you planning to go?

Rising Action -  Who did you go with? When was the trip? Why are going on this trip?

Climax - How was the trip? Easy? Hard?

Ending - You arrive at your destination. How were the people? How was the place?

You embark on a very special journey when you discover a secret door that takes you into your favourite book! What happens next?

Text type - Story-writing (fiction)

Point of view - First person (I, Us, We)

Introduction - Start with your favourite book. What is the book about? Why do you like it?

Rising Action - How did you find the secret door? In a park? At home? What did the door look like? When you enter, what did the scenery look like? And were you dressed up as your favourite character?

Climax - Did the characters greet you? Were they scary instead?

Ending - Did you have fun? And if you didn't, were you able to escape safely?

 

Question 4

Imagine what an animal CHOGM is. It has to be a real animal. Which animal travels there? What do they discuss?

Text type - Informative text (non-fiction)

Point of view - Third person (He, She, Them)

Introduction - Talk about the Commonwealth leaders travel to Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. Which countries went there? What kind of animal did they meet?

Topic sentence 1 - It has to be a real animal. What is the animal? What does it look like?

Topic sentence 2 - Where does this animal usually live? What do they eat?

Conclusion - Why was the animal chosen to be the CHOGM mascot?
